Brick

Brick...one of my favorite movies...period. Take and old school noir film and put it in a modern day high school setting and you get Brick. This is a great movie that finds its feet very early on and takes you on a dramatic ride till the very end. This is a prime example of a neo-noir film. Everything is accounted for here...the private eye type protagonist...the gumshoe attitude..the smart sidekick, in this case Brain...the kingpin of the criminal organization...even the quick dialogue with slick stylized syntax and diction. It looks like a high school drama, but sounds like, feels like, and ultimately is an 1930's noir. Everything just comes together perfectly to exude the noir theme from the music, to the camera angles, to the aforementioned dialogue. Take this movie for what it is and enjoy it. Easily one of the best movies of the past ten years...and definitely one of the most underrated and unknown.
