Limelight vinyl

A Limelight picture disc was available for preorder today. They are only making 500 presses of the vinyl discs so they are gonna be fairly rare. The price is also isn't too bad, it's only like 10 Euros, but the shipping more than doubles that amount. I think shipping it to the states is about 15 Euros which would bring the total to 25 Euros. That's a bit too steep for me cause I don't even have a record player. That's part of the reason that I didn't get the exclusive deluxe edition preorder, the vinyls.

You wanna live forever?!

Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles is such an underrated and overlooked series from years ago. The only reason I found this show was that it was on before i had to go to school back in middle school. I loved the Starship Troopers movie from 1997 so the name caught my interest immediately. I didn't expect to like the show this much and it's better than the movie. This TV show has the power suits from the show, a larger variety of bugs, and the characters are fleshed out a lot more. I watched the Homefront Campaign last night and it brought back a ton of old memories and a renewed interest in the series. I just fuckin' hate how this series was canceled before it was completed. What sucks even more, is that the series ended right at an important part of the series, a major bug offensive on Earth! WTF! I hope that this series gets completed one day, but I highly doubt that it'll happen.

Moment of Truth!

Alizée's Une Enfant du Siécle album officially launches in Paris today. I've been waiting for this album for months and months now and it's finally here! I refuse to download this album, I was the actual hardcopy and inserts. I'm kind of bummed that I didn't dish out the dough for the limited editi0on pre-order, but that was too expensive for my limited funds, so I'll do this instead. So stoked to finally get this album!

Green Zone and Hot Tubs

The Green Zone was a decent movie, but it was pretty boring. It didn’t seem to catch my attention like the Bourne trilogy did. Maybe it’s cause I was expecting more action and balls to the wall fights like in Bourne or maybe I went in wanting too much. All I know is that I walked out of this movie feeling that it was way too political. It’s still pretty enjoyable and the end is definitely good, but the pathway to the end isn’t as good as I thought it would be.
Hot Tub Time Machine. Will it win an Oscar? No. Will it be remembered next year? I doubt it. Will it make you laugh? Most definitely yes. This is a prime example of a movie with such a retarded concept done right. It knows it’s stupid and it totally runs with it. You can’t really criticize this movie for anything cause it is what it is. It’s a fuckin’ hot tub time machine! This isn’t Star Trek or some movie based on the HG Wells book. It’s a fuckin’ hot tub time machine. Just watch this movie. It’s worth the price of admission.

Women, can't live with em...they will not go out with me

The guild season 3 is the best of the series in my opinion. It made me laugh more than the other season. The dialogue is more witty and quirky as the past season and its more of a geekfest than ever before. Basically this season revolves around a new expansion pack for their MMORPG, and they run into a rival guild, The Axis of Anarchy. The Axis is perfectly annoying and out there. Codex is as quirky and awkward as ever. Geekdom is here. All they want to do is play the expansion and with several guild member out of commission, they have to find away to resolve the issue. Codex awkwardly leads the guild in this hilarious third season. Watch it if you’re a geek or if you want a taste of geekdom. Warning though, geekisms are plenty and gook jokes run rampant. That’s just the way I like it.

Geeks rejoice!

What can I say about The Guild? It’s just a great little internet show type thing. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s one of those acquired taste type things as it’s mainly aimed towards the geek audience. Luckily, I fall under that category. It centers around the gaming subculture, more specifically the MMORPG population. I don’t really fall in that category cause I never really played a legitimate MMORPG, but I did play Duels for a significant amount of time and I was an active part of a guild. I regret to say I was an officer in the Fight Club Guild in Duels. Enough about me, I’m getting off subject. So yea, basically The Guild follows a guild as they try and balance their online gaming with their seemingly interconnected real life lives. Those that don’t know geekism and geek culture might get a lost or put off by this, but those that do get it will just love it. It definitely doesn’t hurt that Felicia Day aka Codex is quite a good looking redhead; hell I find her awkward geekiness kind of hot. Every member of the guild has their unique personas. Codex is the most regular person but still suffers from her agoraphobia. Then there’s Zaboo who is the hardcore geek that’s utterly obsessed with Codex. Clara, the bad mother who would rather play the game than raise her kids. Bladezz, who is basically the immature teenage boy that trolls everyone else. Tinkerballa who is the asian gamer who is all up on her tech. Finally, there is Vork, who is the guildmaster. basically he is the middle aged man whose life revolves around the game. The back and forth banter, witty dialogue, awkward moments, and innate humanity is what gives the show its appeal. Put simply, The Guild is a geek’s dream show. Kinda makes me want to play duels again….kinda….

Cause I physicaly couldn't make the post earlier

I didn't get a chance to write about my wingfest on Friday cause I spent all of today (Friday) either sleeping, on the toilet, at work, or a combination of the last 2 because of the challenge. Basically me and Justin met up and did a random wingfest with a random pie run. We thought that it was just going to be me and him, but we eventually got a hold of Jimmy and he was down to rock it. Chelsea turned out to be down for it too. Then we finally got a hold of Rose who was knocked out and she was in on it too. And we got Hope down too. I told a couple of others about it, but they weren't down for a major fat fest like Justin and I were. After we all met up we crammed our asses in Jimmy's truck and went to Marie Calendars to get some pie. I got a slice of Chocolate Cream Pie but I don't remember what everyone else had. We didn't eat it there, instead we brought it along with us as we went to Hooters. Some at it in the truck and some at their pie at Hooters while waiting for the orders. I had 5 pieces of the hot breaded wings cause I was saving up some room for Buffalo Wild Wings cause I was gonna do the challenge. It's there at Hooters that Chelsea got down right excited that they played the Bierber guy's, or whatever you spell his name, song. After Hooters we went back to the AMC lot cause Chels and Hope had to jam out. So it was just me, Jimmy, Justin, and Rose left to hit up BWW. We go to BWW where there's a slight 20 minute wait which wasn't too bad. We finally sit down and I start to get my head in the game. I order a tall glass of beer to get ready for the challenge. I tell the waiter that I want to do the challenge and he gives me the health waiver things that I had to sign all the while Rose was taking pictures to document it. The order comes and a crowd of BWW employees come to keep time and just watch me do it. I'll spare you the details, but I finished  all 12 wings in 2 minutes and 50 seconds. It was easier than I expected just cause Atomics from Wingstop are hotter to me, so I wasn't too phased by the Blazin' wings. I ordered another beer to numb out the burn and we went back to AMC where everyone went their separate ways.

I spent today suffering the after effects of the 12 blazin' wings.

Runaways to Wingstop

Runaways was a pretty good movie. It’s basically the story behind the Runaways and eventually Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. How can you go wrong with sex, drugs, and glam rock? Young starlets with their quick rise to fame and complete burnout in the process. The movie was well done and it doesn’t necessarily does anything wrong but it doesn’t do anything exceptionally well either. Dakota Fanning does a really good job as Cherie Currie. It’s weird seeing Dakota Fanning growing up but this is definitely one of the roles that I liked the most from Fanning. Kristen Stewart did a decent job playing Joan Jett, but I think her innate awkwardness was still visible. She definitely looked the part, but she couldn’t quite get Joan Jett’s confidence and downright badassery. To her credit though, Kristen Stewart did a good job playing the iconic Joan Jett and this was WAY better than her Twilight roles where half her acting was screaming or hyperventilating. Together Fanning and Stewart holds the film together. Music was legit, which is to be expected in a movie like this where its focus was a band, and its kind of surprising to find out that all the singing in the movie was actually Fanning and Stewart. they actually did their own singing and they did it well too. If you like glam rock, hell if you like rock in general, watch this movie.

After me and Rose caught Runaways, we had a weird run into everyone at AMC type thing that happens now and again. We ran into Brandon Perez, Scarlett, Lida, Wilson, Charlie, Mando, and Chels. All within a 2 minute span from leaving the theater. After a bit of talking with Wilson, Michelle, and Hope, me and Rose catch up with Justin for a Wingstop run. I didn’t have my usual this time, I ordered the ten piece combo, Lemon Pepper and Original Hot, the drink was a Sprite and Ranch dip. As usual it was bomb and a great conversation between the three of us ensued.

Une Enfant du Siécle is close

Pictures of the Une Enfant du Siécle album art and the limited  edition pre-order has been released. This was expected cause the album is gonna hit the store shelves in less than a week. I've been waiting since October for this album to come out; it was rumored to be released in November, but it's been delayed halfway to hell. Is it worth the wait? I'll find out when I get the album. Now, do I have to import it from France? I'm pretty sure American retailers aren't going to carry it...

Tuesday Fest

Where to start? Me, Josie, San Antonio, and Sana hung out yesterday for a Tuesday fest.

We started out at Buffalo Wild Wings for 50 cent Tuesdays. I had six of the Mango Habanero and six of the Blazin’ which are the hottest wings they have. I also had a tall glass of Dos Equis to compliment the wings and we had a basket of fries. After this set of wings at BWW, I can say without a doubt that Wingstop is better. The wings are just better at Wingstop, the Atomics are hotter than the Blazin’ wings, and the fries at Wingstop totally blow the BWW ones out the water.

After BWW we went to Sana’s place and hung out a bit. We did some Scattergories and played the four player Super Mario game on the Wii. San Antonio and Josie bolted so me and Sana went to AMC to catch a showing of Alice. Just like before Alice was pretty good but it wasn’t amazing. After Alice, me and Sana catch up with Kevin and Justin. We talked for a bit and decided to grub out a little bit, after a long time deciding cause we kept getting off track, we ended going to Krispy Kreme.

It’s there where Sana got a regular glazed donut, kevin got a non glazed regular donut of which we called the fried bagel, and me and Justin challenged each other to a 5 donut race. It was a pretty close race, but I barely edged out Justin cause he couldn’t take the all the grease and sugar of the last donut. It’s there that San Antonio and Josie catch up with us again and hung out with us for a while. Then Josie, Sana, and San Antonio jam out and the rest of us go to AMC to try and catch a late movie. It’s there that we ran into Wilson, Caydie, Lida, and Chelsea in box. We all talk for a bit cause we had some time before She’s Out of My League started so we just chilled with everyone. We then catch the movie, it’s hilarious as usual and after the movie it was pretty late so we all just jammed out.

Not a bad day.

Audition

Audition is a Japanese horror type  movie that I've been hearing great stuff about for a while now. It's definitely a good movie that i enjoyed, but it was too hyped for me and I was left wanting more. Those interested in the movie should expect a slow start up because it begins in a slow fashion. Man loses wife, raises son, becomes lonely, and wants a new love interest. That's the general idea behind the film and 3/4 of the movie is based on this progression. It's definitely a good ride and the ending was definitely worth the wait, but it felt too tame for the hype. I admit that I'm not the squeamish type so it might just be cause I'm used to gore and so forth, but I still think it's not as disturbing as other made it out to be. There's a slight twist in the movie that serves as the motive, but it's not too difficult to figure it out. Audition is a really well made cautionary tale of not knowing what's behind the eyes that's looking at you. It moves from a movie about a lonely man looking for someone to care about to a nightmare come true. If you don't mind a very lengthy build up then check this movie out cause it's definitely worth watching; if you're turned off from hearing that it takes well over an hour to reach the well hyped portion, then you might just want to look at the end on the internet and skip the rest of the movie.

A bit late on the Repo

I totally forgot to write about Repo Men. I caught this movie on Friday and just lagged on this a bit. It was decent. It's not a really good movie, but it was entertaining nonetheless. It was definitely bloodier than I expected it to be and the story and character development are on par with with I expected, which is mediocre. There isn't much that's special about this movie. Nothing sets it apart and makes it a must watch. I don't think it's worth the full price of admission into the theaters, but it worth watching if you can watch it for a discounted price or free. I'd probably give it a 5.5/10, just a little higher than totally mediocre.

Fridays on Monday

Today was pretty off. I woke up kinda late. Alright, I woke up really late. I woke up at 7pm which kind of surprised me. I didn't do much at home. i just ate and then I left to chill with Josie and San Antonio. We basically just ate at Fridays. I had the Flank Steak with Jack Daniel's sauce cooked rare with sides of french fries and sweet potato fries. I also had a Guinness to drink. Overall it was pretty good. After that we chilled at Diamond Plaza for a bit and then hung out at Josie's place for a short while before going our own ways.

Vegas in Cali and posters

Today was pretty simple. I woke up pretty early today and didn't do much in the morning. I met up with my cousin Kae who's from Vegas today for a little bit. She and her friend got some Taco Del Rio and I just met up with them to see her. After that I caught The Runaways at AMC. I'll write about that movie after I watch it again. Then I went to work. It was a pretty basic day with a good group of ushers. It was me, Tucker, Chris Wilson, and Carissa. All in all it was a good group to work with. I also got a bunch of posters that I requested thanks to Sarah cause she reminded me to pick then up. I got an Alice poster, Avatar, Brooklyn's Finest, and When in Rome.

End of Winter 2010

I didn’t sleep last night because of two reasons: I slept from 4pm to 11pm that day and cause I studied for my last final. I was initially studying in my apartment but eventually I migrated to Denny’s and finished off my studying there. I had my usual French Toast Slam which was good as usual. i also had a ton of coffee. Sana met up with me at Denny’s and we did some impromptu studying then headed on into the UV Theater where our final was and caught up with Beni there.
The final wasn’t too bad. I’m pretty sure I did alright and I for sure passed the class and that’s all I can really ask for. That was the end of Winter Quarter 2010. Spring Break here I come!

Les Collines music videos hits the public!

The Les Collines music video for Alizée's upcoming album has finally hit the public! After a long wait for this album, it's finally starting to materialize!

Fire Within

I finally got the first two of three DVDs for Cirque Du Soleil: Fire Within today. I forgot how much I used to love the Cirque. I haven't really watched a Cirque video or any of these Fire Within episodes since way back in freshman year in high school. That's probably about a good six or seven years ago. In those six or seven years, I have totally forgotten how I was so mystified by the inner working of the Cirque. I also forgot how stunning Raquel Oliveira and Olga Pikhienko are. I guess my interest in foreigners originates from Fire Withing. Raquel is from Rio de Janeiro and Olga is from Russia but has been traveling with the Cirque since she was about 15.

For those uninitiated, Fire Within is a reality series that was shot during the making of Cirque Du Soleil's show Varekai. It follows several performers from the beginning of training to the opening of the show. Ashely and Gareth are in the program for the Icarian Games. They difficulty lies in that there's only a small handful of Icarian artists in the world, and they have to learn the art from scratch. Kevin and Andrew are the commonly refered to "twins" are there for the Aerial Straps which become one of the main focal points of Varekai and even catches the eye of Guy Laliberté. Raquel and Stella are parts of the triple trapeze which was birthed after the failure of the cage structure of whose name escapes me right now. Oleg, a 35 year old acrobat who is trying to reinvent himself as a dancer. He's a very Russian individual and his the person who has been touring for years upon years and is the oldest member of the troup. Olga Pikhienko who is one of the world's leading contortionists. When Varekai started to get up on its feet, she was a leading performer in Quidam and the Cirque brought her over into Varekai to takes the leading female role. There are alot of people to follow but it's not confusing at all as some of the cast, Olga included, come into the troup midway into the development as they are already well established in the Cirque.

You really get to see the physical and emotional challenges that the performers go through to prepare for the show. Hell, you even see the struggles that the casting crew and advertising agency go through because of the time crunch and artistic nature of the Cirque. Everything has to go through Laliberté which is a huge strain on the process. Dominic Champagne has to work extremely hard trying to get everything together from getting the acts just right so that laliberté likes it, to the name of the show, the posters, to the show itself.

If you're interested in performing arts or good docu-dramas, then check out Cirque Du Soleil: Fire Within.

Mediocre Wednesday

Yesterday…yesterday…yesterday…

I started out the day with my Ochem final at 8am. I did horrible like I expected cause I didn’t go to lecture and all of Hooley’s exams are straight from the lecture. Apparently he’s notorious for hating the book so he doesn’t use it. I’m going to have to retake the class again next quarter. Although I don’t want to retake it, it won’t be too bad considering the professors next quarter are going to be easier. After the midterm I planned on taking a short nap but I ended up crashing until like 5 or 6pm.

I then went out to Carl’s with Andy and it’s there that I broke and bought Pokéman Heartgold. It’s a fucking addicting game as I’ve already logged in about 9 hours in the game. Late at night I had a short netflix session where I watched Sex Drive Unrated.

Sex Drive is a funny movie and it’s better as the theatrical version. The unrated edition is gratuitous in the nudity and suffers because of it. Given the makers of the film warns you before you watch the movie that it’s basically gonna be shittier than the theatrical version and they advise you to actually watch the theatrical version first. They basically just added nude women in random scenes in the movie that makes no sense at all. They spliced in small bloopers and changed the movie a tad bit. If you’re a fan of the movie like I was then you’ll find the additions entertaining (excluding the random nude women). The additions are roughly cut in and are obviously added post post post production as a just for laughs thing and it’s definitely aimed towards guys, which isn’t surprising when looking at the theatrical version of the movie. All in all it’s still enjoyable but suffers from the random nude women they greenscreened in. If they just made it so that they added in the bloopers and extended scenes it would have been better, but as it stands now, it works and fans will like it.

Taco Tuesday 3/17/2010

Taco Tuesday fat fest. My goal for the fest was 21 tacos. i initially ordered 15 tacos. Those weren't too difficult, although the tacos started to taste disgusting. After a short but of contemplation I decided to get three more tacos, but when I was at the register ordering, I thought "fuck it" and I ordered six just to get up to my goal. The final six tacos pushed me to my limit. The first 3 weren't too difficult, but I hit my wall on the 19th taco. That one was a bitch to power through. The final two were the hardest thing I have done in the longest time. After i finished the final two tacos, I was happy to hit 21, but I felt so sick. I couldn't move but I needed to walk back to my apartment with my roommate. The walk that followed is what like to call the Trail of Tears. I had to walk slow, I wanted to vomit, i almost vomited several times, but luckily I made it home. It is there that i passed out from food coma and meat sweats and when I woke up, I felt a little bit better, but still overall sick.

Lo...Lee...Ta

Yesterday was very straightforward. I started out my studying for my Econ003 final. I basically did that most of the day until 7pm cause that''s when my final started. I got there about 5 minutes late but that's no big deal. I completely choked in the final. I could not remember anything that i studied for the life of me, I'm so disappointed in that. I didn't do much after the final. I surfed the net and I started trying to set my farts on fire. It took ALOT of tries but I finally did it. Next step is to catch it on camera so everyone can catch a glimpse. After my accomplishment of the day, I started my movie fest...

Lo...Lee...Ta

Lyne's iteration of Lolita comes a little bit over 30 years after Kubrick's iteration that came out in 1962. It has a lot ot live up to because Kubrick's film was simply amazing. I'm happy to say that although Lyne's Lolita is not as good as Kubrick's, it's still a stellar movie. The main difference between the two iterations is whereas Kubrick's has a more black comedic feel to it, Lyne's film is much darker. It's definitely more sexual and it's easy to see why it was controversial when it first hit the screen. The casting in this movie was superb. Jeremy Irons plays the role of Humbert perfectly and Dominique Swain looks and portrays Lolita beautifully. Humbert's love for Lolita is debilitating in this movie. Lolita is portrayed as a young femme fatale. She's dangerous and controlling. It exemplifies the power that women have over men; putting that into a the body of a 14 year old and you get a dangerous individual. Louis CK says that men will rip off your arms and throw it into a river but they will leave your humanity intact, but women will shit inside of your heart. Lolita is a prime example of this. She utterly destroys Humbert through the course of the film and the evolution of her character is superb. You see her go from a child to a woman. the changes are so subtle that you don't see them as they happen but when you look back, as you will at the end of the film, the change is drastic. The same can be said about Humbert. You see Humbert go from a simple interest in Lolita, to love, to desperation, to utter despair all because of Lolita. She's simply a dangerous individual. It is this that makes this movie tough to watch, but impossible to walk away from. It'll bother you and make you feel uncomfortable. At times, it's completely disturbing. Lolita is so alluring and you want to get closer to her even though its forbidden. Who knew a movie can make pedophilia seem so, normal. I definitely sympathized more for Humbert than for anyone else. Even though he is technically the criminal, he seems to make the audience look past the pedophilia and allows them them to see the humanity behind it. If you haven't seen this movie, and you probably have not, catch it as soon as you can. You won't be disappointed. Just a note to all the guys out there, stay away from all the nymphets....

And next...

500 Days of Summer is just a great movie. Like the movie says, it's not a love story. That is completely true. It goes against all the regular conventions that have been used by the movie industry and creates its own way of telling the story of Tom and Summer. Their "relationship" is told out of sequence which strangely works to show what happened between the two. Everyone will probably  be able to connect with this movie in one way or another. I know the movie had many moments that made me look back and think "ah no wonder..." and I'm sure many others will have this. It seems like the movie is telling everyone to just grow the fuck up and deal already. Throw away the expectations of romantic grandeur as its just a waste of time. It took me so long to finally watch this movie and i can say without a doubt that I totally missed out. Watch this movie!

And finally...

This movie was utter shit. It tries to be smart, it fails. It tries to be shocking, it fails. It tries to be Saw, it utterly fails. The characters were annoying, especially Melissa Joan Hart. The end was disappointing. Even the plot was basically nonexistent. Don't watch it, it's worth the time.

Baby shower and stuff

Today my cousin Darwin and his wife Sally had their baby shower so the family gathered up at Roweena's and Mike's joint in Walnut. It was the basic family gathering that usually happens which means food, talking, and so forth. Started it the same as usual until my Uncle Nanding and Nap started to look at a globe and tried to name all 9 continents. Yeah, 9 continents. After a bit of laughing and explanation my sister and I finally explained to them that there's in fact only 7 continents. More globe hilarity ensued but it's nothing too special to write about. When my sister and i go inside, we started talking Darwin and Roweena about life in general and mainly about our childhood. Many funny stories followed which included my uncle being in the Museum of Tolerance and asking "What did the Jews do to make everyone so mad?" out loud for all to hear.

Oh and our dog is on her period...it got on my sweater...eww.....

Bummed it

Alright, so I lagged on this shit a little bit. Saturday was kind of a bust. I didn’t have a ride to J Tucks B Bash so i just bummed it with my Netflix and PS3 all day. Did some Modern Warfare via PSN with Ryan, that was a bust cause I suck on an HDTV. I’m just so used to my regular SDTV, it makes quite a big difference. After a little bit of MW2, I started to hit up my netflix.

First up was my re-watch of Super Size Me. Everyone knows about this movie. Very simple concept, Morgan Spurlock eats only McDonald’s for a month. Simple idea, complex outcome. Think of what happens to you when you go on a drinking binge with a addictive aspect of tobacco. Who knew a high fat diet does shit like that? Being barraged with so many facts and figures along with the disturbing effects on Morgan’s health makes a pretty shocking movie. I’m not going to say much about this film just cause majority of people have already seen it. If you haven’t seen it, watch it now….while eating McDonald’s.

Next up…
The Girl Next Door, what to say about this movie? Well, it’s based on a book which was based on a true story. I started reading the book but I never finished it because I started to read We Need To Talk About Kevin. From what I read, the book was pretty good so I had pretty high expectations for the movie. Boy was I disappointed. It didn’t disturb me as much as it claimed it would, but yet again, I’m pretty desensitized regarding gore and torture. If you’re still easily disturbed or grossed out it might be worth you watching this movie. It;s very grim and shows how you never know what goes on in your neighbors’ homes. It’s hard to believe this actually happening to someone but it really did. The movie takes place as a memory; sort of a recollection of childhood events. The protagonist is an adult man who remembers what happened when he was younger. It’s not a horrible movie, hell, it’s not a bad movie. It just didn’t grab my attention and I couldn’t really stay interested in it. I’m willing to give it a second try, but I’ll wait a while before I do. If you’re interested in the movie, you might be better off reading the book. If you intend on watching the movie and reading the book, watch the movie first, then read the book. Reading the book first will just make the movie seem that much worse than it actually is.

After a short movie break and a small dinner, I finally break and go to Best Buy. I go in and go straight to the PS3 section. It is there that I have my dilemma of the day: get the God of War Collection along with God of War 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2, or Final Fantasy XIII. After a while thinking about which one to get, i decide on Bad Company 2. I decided on it because Andres from work plays it so I already have a buddy that I can play it with. Sana has the first two God of Wars for the PS2 and he plans on getting a PS2 during the summer, so I can just borrow that form him before getting God of War 3 thus saving me some money. And final Fantasy XIII is a solo only game so I can wait out the until it falls in price like I did for Metal Gear Solid 4.

After about an hour playing BC2 online and a short stint of the campaign, I decide to bake up a pizza and watch another movie.

I’ve been meaning to watch Memento for a ling time now. Dana recommended the movie to me months and months ago, but I never seemed to get around to watching it. I finally watched it today, and wow, really good movie. It’s like a puzzle mystery neo-noir film. It Nolan gives a different take on movie telling by actually doing the film backwards. You start at the end of the film and work yourself backwards and sideways. It’s a really good concept that worked well in the movie. It’s confusing yet makes complete sense.  It twists and turns always keeping you from getting your footing and when you finally do, Nolan throws you a curve ball. Guy Pierce gives a strong and compelling performance, although I will always see him as Fernand Mondego; you better know where that name comes from otherwise it’s just sad. Simply put, this movie is great and it should not be missed. Go watch it now…rent it…buy it…just do whatever you can to see this film.

6%

I started out the day with my Ochem midterm that I knew I was going to fail. I went in and basically got raped two ways from Sunday. I got the results back and I got an impressing 6%. 6 fuckin’ percent! Wow…

I then watched Food Inc. via netflix. I found it to be a pretty good movie. It didn’t really draw me in like I expected it to, but it was definitely worth watching. The movie definitely give you a new perspective on the food the you eat and the regulations that preside over them. It’s rather disturbing when you finally realize how the food gets to your plate. The conditions in which the animals are raised, kept, and slaughtered are completely deplorable and disgusting. To think that suck conditions lead to your plates is shocking. It’s worth watching to find out what really goes on withing food corporations.

After I watched Food Inc., I took a short one hour nap before I started my Religious Studies essay. The essay is basically a paper on how Mama Lola relates to the American religious experience. I didn’t really know what to write so I just winged it. Hopefully it’s a good paper despite me putting the wrong title on it. When I finished my paper I picked up Sana and we grubbed out at Coffee Break. I had the Chicken Katsu Curry and a Passion Fruit Slush. It was pretty good and definitely hit the spot. I gobbled that shit down cause I was starving. Sana had a steak sizzling platter, can’t really remember what it was exactly but it looked good and the part that I tasted was pretty yum.

We then went to AMC to hit up a showing of She’s Out of My League. It’s there where I caught up with Justin and his buddy so the four of us just caught the movie together.

I was expecting She’s Out of My League to be a bad movie. Admit it, it had all the ingredients to be a mediocre comedy and it claimed to be the finniest movie since The Hangover. I won’t say it’s the funniest movie since The Hangover because I though Zombieland was funnier, but this movie was still pretty damn funny. Where The Hangover and Zombieland were more polished and perfectly paced, which is important in a comedy, She’s Out of My League was, although hilarious, flawde. The first three quarters of the movie was hilarious and witty but dies a bit in the last quarter. Warning to all you girls out there, this movie has guy humor, so expect a lot of cussing and so forth. The awkwardness of the movie is just shy of that of I Love You, Man and is a notable effort. My only real complaints are that the humor dies off a good deal and becomes more slapstick near the end which is a contrast to the witty awkward humor that it had beforehand and that Stainer was very Napoleon Dynamite, a character that I hate with a passion. If you want a simple movie to make you laugh then this is a good choice for you. Watch it as soon as you can to get a fairly full theater as the audience’s laughs add a great deal of ambiance to the movie and makes it even funnier because of everyone reactions.

All in all it was a pretty decent day today…outside of the ochem results of course.

Men are from Mars, women are from HELL!

Boys fuck things up; Girls are fucked up. Like, a man will cut your arm off and throw it in a river, but he’ll leave you as a human being intact. He won’t fuck with who you are. Women are nonviolent, but they will shit inside of your heart.

Nacht Der Untoten

Has anyone here played Call of Duty: World at War? Yeah? Alright, do you remember that Nazi zombie killing mode called Nacht Der Untoten? Yeah? Well, Dead Snow is basically a movie adaptation of that mode. The story is pretty horrible, the characters are totally one sided, and the acting is sub par. Is this a good movie? Damn right it is. This is a horrible move that is very well made. It knows it's stupid, it knows it's retarded and its completely runs with it. It's fuckin' Nazi zombies for crying out loud. It makes all the jokes regarding that, even to the point of having someone use a hammer and sickle as a weapon. For you people who aren't history buffs the hammer and sickle was the sign of the Soviets, and the Nazis hated the Soviets. This is basically a simple hack and slash movie with nothing more to expect. I expected it to be horrible but I ended up enjoying the whole thing. If you want something that's cheesy and simply entertaining, then Dead Snow might just be right for you.

Fuck humanity

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. I don't know what to say about this movie. It's depressing. I don't mean it's a sad movie like My Sister's Keeper; it more like it doesn't make you happy. It a prime example of a Greek tragedy gone modern. Watching this movie makes you lose faith in humanity. It's about brothers who scheme to rob their family jewelry store to solve their financial problems when one mistake changes everything. The family dynamics are crafted beautifully and you see and feel how everything just crumble apart. The story progression jumps around time and perspective intertwining everyone's involvement which helps develop everyone motives and character progression. It builds tension and suspense making you want to find out what happens even though you know nothing is going to be alright. Nobody is safe in this movie, everyone has their demons and human nature is exposed in its purest form. What will you do and how far will you go to solve the biggest problems in your life? How will you deal with the repercussions of those actions? How good are people when they are pushed to the brink of their sanity? All of these question are brought to the table and illustrated. Be prepared to feel like shit after this movie cause that's all people are...pieces of shit.

Les Collines shoot

Photos of Alizée’s video shoot for the music video of her first single Les Collines. Pretty basic video shoot stuff: lights, cameras, the occasional ladder. She looks great as usual and she definitely looks like she’s matured. Oh, and it was announced that Alizée is going to have a public CD signing in Paris on March 29. I wish I could go, but it's the first week of the new quarter, so I'll have to miss out on meeting her.

These pictures were the high point of my day. The rest of the day was spent studying for an exam that I’m going to fail for a class that I’m not going to pass.
JR out…
