Freddy

A Nightmare on Elm Street. Simply put it's a great horror movie from back in the day. Was Craven does some of his best work on this movie and it shows. Given it's pretty dated and by no means does it scare me, but for all intents and purposes this is one of the top movies in the genre. Freddy is creepy and insane. Everyone already knows the supposed twist type thing so that's no surprise anymore. It's just enjoyable nowadays. I watched to to set up for the remake that premiers tonight, and it totally has me stoked to watch it.

24 Season 2

24 Season 2 is damn near as good as the first. The first two seasons of 24 are hands down the best seasons of the show. I finished the second season just now and its well worth the re watch. Jack is even more badass this time around, Kim is just as vulnerable, Tony shines, i didn't notice how stunning Kate is until now, and it all works amazingly well. The twists are still great even though I know what they are and missing out on this season would just be a loss. Watch it if you haven't seen it and if you have, fuck it, watch it again.

Nada

Nothing much today. Came to Riversuck and I had Pita Pit with Sana. I had the Roast Beef one, it was decent. I went to class, then grocery shopping, and wasting time before I study for my final. Suckage. Oh yea, I made a deviantART account to. http://jrmacatiag.deviantart.com/

that is all.

Drugs you shouldn't do while driving

http://www.maniacworld.com/drugs-you-shouldnt-do-while-driving.html

Oh yea...

Forgot to mention that I scored some new posters last night. I got a Hit-Girl poster from Kick-Ass, Oceans, The Losers, and Date Night. My poster collection is growing...I just need to get ahold of an I Love You, Man poster and an Inglourious Basterds poster. Once I get those, I'll be set for a while.

The Losers

Watched The Losers today with Kevin and Ryan. It was a pretty damn good movie. I went in with low expectations cause of Rotten Tomatoes and I walked out amused. It's not going to win any awards or praises but it'll keep you entertained to whole way. There's definitely some laughs...a lot of it is cause of Chris Evans. It knows that it's an action comedy type movie that is supposed to be over the top and it succeeds on both merits. If you like campy movies you'll probably like this movie. It also doesn't hurt having Zoe Saldana as eye candy.

After the movie me, Kevin, Ryan, Jazz, and Wilson talked for a bit in the lot like usual...we decide to go to Dennys so I take Ryan home and I meet up with them there. I had my usual French Toast Slam with eggs overeasy and we talked for a while. Basically the same AMC late night deal.

Doughboys

Went out to eat with my sister at Doughboys. I haven’t been  there in a long time and today was a good day to revisit Doughboys. I had the Chicken Pot Pie and it was so good. It was piping hot and the crust was nice and flaky and you can taste the butter in it. Definitely a good choice. There was also this cool gay couple that partially made the night. My sister says that they were very West Hollywood gay and I’ll take her work on that hahaha. But yea, we also got some of the Red Velvet Cake cause there’s no way in hell you can go to Doughboys without getting some of their famous Red Velvet Cake. As usual it was stupendous. It was moist and simply perfect. Doughboys never lets you down.

Blue Moon

yea..

Basic day yesterday. I opened usher at noonish and Lida came in at 2. Work was chill cause it was a pretty slow day. After I got off work I spent like half an hour trying to figure out how to fit a 6 foot Hit-Girl standee into my tiny ass civic. I figured it out but now I gotta figure out how to get it out of my car...After that I went home and finished off my homework and went back to AMC to catch a movie with Rose. We caught Hot Tub Time Machine which was funny as usual. After that we caught up with Chelsea and we hit up Norms cause me and Chelsea was starving. I had the Filet Mignon thing rare of course. After a whilke of eating and talking we jammed out and that was my day...

Sleep where are you?

Alright...didn't have time to do this yesterday and today so I gotta catch up.

Wednesday...Wednesday was a lot of shit. Started out with CS Lab and I got out that at 11. So I did my programming assignment and then jammed out to the crew party. I picked up Chelsea from her place in Whittier cause I'm such a damn nice guy hahaha. We hit up the crew party and things didn't go as planned cause it rained so we just had it at the theater. It was pretty badass though. Me and Carla rocked it in the parking lot. We played catch, soccer, chased each other with squirt guns....it was bomb. She even took one for the team and tackled the light...the light won. I also tried to play badminton with Carissa, that was total failure cause of the wind but it was pretty damn funny. What else happened at the crew party? There was a lot of gay moments...oh, there was some bomb ass food cause thanks to Brandon's grandma...props to her, food was delish. So yea, we also played a big game of capture the flag but that didn't really go anywhere and we quit before anyone ever found the flags. After the actual crew crew party, a bunch of us hit up cue. It was, let's see if I can remember this. Me, new Kevin, Rose, Carla, Tucker, Carissa, Jazwell, Wilson, Caydie, and Chelsea. That was pretty damn fun having a big group like that. Also had some male bonding as you'll probably see on pictures later on. After cue we hit up the crepes place just under it. I got whatever Wilson got. I think it was a crepe with strawberries, pineapple, vanilla icecream, and nutella. It was bomb. It was there that Chelsea got me a little Captain America figurine thingy that I loved. Thanks Chels! Rose and Carissa jammed out around that time so there was only eight of us were left. We talked for a while at the plaza but we decided to hit up Sonics up in Anaheim so we jammed out. It was my first time at Sonics and I will say this, their big chili dog and the cherry limeade is simply bomb. After that we head back to AMC cause all the cars were there, we split up to jam out. Jaz takes Chelsea home cause he knew that I was gonna head back to Riversuck. I take Carla home cause she needed a ride and after that I went back to Riversuck totally wiped.

Today was much more boring. I was totally sore from all the running and stuff with Carla and the rest of the crew the night before and I was still exhausted cause of the late night. I overslept for my Calc class at 8am and I barely make it to my CS10 class at 9:30. I got out of that class at 11 and I take a nap at my apartment. I almost overslept for my Creative Writing class but I barely made it in time. Just like is CS10 I was falling asleep...I was still beat. After that class I head back to my apt and I eat while watching 24, and that gave me just enough time to get in a half hour WoW session before I had discussion. I go there blah blah blah come back, get some WoW in and jammed out back to West Co where I loitered at box office talking to Chelsea at first then ran into a bunch of other there, I mainly chilled with Chelsea, who was working box, Wilson, Liz, and David. I was there for a then I decided to leave just after midnight. Talked to Armando before I jam out but I eventually did.

You're all caught up now...so fuck off

Today’s 3 W’s: Wingstop, Work, Waldvogel

Today was pretty straightforward as usual. I woke up to my sister screaming at me to wake up to see Father’s Office on the Food Channel’s TV show The Best Thing I Ever Ate: Bacon. That was a great way to start out the day hahaha. After that I did my Creative Writing homework cause I didn’t get a chance to do it last night. After that I went to Wingstop with my boy Ryan. I had the ten piece combo, Lemon Pepper and Smoked Hickory, with a Dr. Pepper and ranch dip. Ryan had the ten piece combo with all ten being original hot. We talked there for a while and ended up not being able to catch Kick-Ass like we planned. I ended up going to work almost right after Wingstop but we did loiter at AMC for a little bit. I worked a decent amount of hours today even though it was pretty slow. It was basically me, JT, Justin, and Scarlett. Apparently me and Justin started a flex thing between the two of us that just gets everyone totally confused. It was the basic usher stuff…clean houses here…crack a ton of jokes there…the laughing continues. Good day ushering overall. After me and Justin finish out closing duties I helped Chelsea close out concession cause she got fucked over being the only closer tonight. There was a lot to be done. I also helped Liz up in booth for a bit cause she had to do print moves. Basically I got 2 extra hours at work by helping Liz and Chels. Now I’m going to make several cheddarwursts and watch an episode or two of 24 before calling it a night.

Chillin

Today was pretty chill. After waking up at Ruben's place where I crashed for the night I went straight to work. Oh yeah, thanks again to Brenda and Angie for everything. But yea, work was pretty decent. I ushered with Mario and Carissa which was really chill. Everything went smoothly outside of the headache and so forth. But yea. After work I loitered at AMC for a while cause I was waiting for Chelsea to free up so we can chill a bit. We got Rose and Gus to come with us to go to...dare I say it...cue...again. We went for Chelsea, she loves her cue. We rock that for a bit then we went to the claw machine game place where I dumped like twenty bucks trying to win that ipad. Came close but the wouldn't grab. When were done there we bust our asses over to Dennys cause me and Chelsea were totally starving. I had the T-bone slam thing, rare of course with the eggs overeasy. We ate and talked for a while and after a bit we jammed out. We brought Chels back to her car and me and Rose bring Gus back to his casa. I bring Rose back to her casa and here I am now. I'm gonna take a shower and then do my programming assignment and do my creative writing assignments.

Kicking-Ass and eating peole

I took a break from my newly found WoWing experience to experience some movies.
First up is Kick-Ass. When you watch Kick-Ass, think Tarentino. Bad stuff happens and you laugh or go “OOOH PWNED” or you version of that exclamation. It’s a rated R superhero movie that is exactly that, a superhero movie. The costumes are ridiculous, the action is pretty over the top…fucking christ it’s an 11 year old mowing down room after room of enemies…but it all works in context of the rest of the movie. Kick-Ass is appropriately geeky and basically in his own dream. Red Mist is an awkward as ever. Bid Daddy is pretty damn badass even if he wasn’t in the movie as much as I hoped for. Hit Girl steals the show. Badass 11 year old. Hit Girl and Big Daddy are one of the best duos in superhero movies in a while and it doesn’t hurt that their father-daughter relationship is nothing short of epic. It’s definitely worthy of it’s R rating as it’s pretty damn bloody for a comic book movie. The only other superhero movie that tops its bloodiness is Warzone, and I still think that Kick-Ass might top that too. It’s comedy made me laugh which is always a win for a movie. Overall Kick-Ass is a movie that you have to watch as soon as humanly possible. It’s worth the high price tag of movie tickets nowadays so get your ass up and watch it already.
Where do I start with Hannibal? You shouldn’t go into this movie expect a thriller cause it’s not really a thriller per se. It delves more into the characters than it does into the horrors of the characters. I still think that its a good movie, but it’s kinda hard to live up to Silence of the Lambs. Hannibal was barely in Silence of the Lambs and that solidified him as one of the creepiest characters in movie history. How does this compare? Well, he isn’t as creepy here but he definitely is more fucked up cause you can actually see how he kills. He has no mercy, no fear, and basically he doesn’t have the moral inhibitions that prevent people from doing what he does. And honestly, the end of this movie is pretty disturbing and it’s sure to shock and/or horrify a lot of people.

The Final

Horrorfest...The Final. This was a pretty decent movie. It's basically a wierd revenge type movie and there's nothing really deep about it. The antagonists are your stereotypical high school popular kids like the hot bitches and the douche jocks. The protagonists if you can call them that are the usual high school rejects. The rejects basically get revenge on the popular kids by using methods that they learned in school ranging from history to chemistry. These sequences do not happen often enough to really stick to you and they never really as gory as it should be. It's a movie that you can watch if you're bored but it's not one to totally engross you into the plot and so forth.

Hands down this is the best day....

Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional. Yesterday I ushered with Chelsea, and today I hung out with Chelsea and Rose. Ushering with Chelsea brought us to sing the song while at work and it came up again today. So this is the song of my weekend.
This is for you Chelsea hahaha.

24 Season 1

24 Season 1. I just finished rewatching this season. This show, particularly this season changed my understanding on TV shows. It's the first TV show since Friends to really capture  my interest. I first caught wind of 24 3/4 of the way through season 3 so I bought the first two seasons right away to catch up. Season 1 is the best season of 24 to date. It's a nonstop rollercoaster ride. You never know who to trust, who to like, or what's going to happen. This is a thriller at it's core and I doubt that any show can capture the drama, excitement, and pure thrills that 24 Season 1 does. If you haven't followed 24 ever, start watching it now. It's on netflix so if you have it, watch it on the instant watch list. You wont regret it.

Unagi and Lychee Slush

Unagi and Lychee Slush. I came back from Riverside today with Sana and we got some food at Coffee Break. I had the Unagi with rice and the Lychee Slush. It was a good dish and definitely hit the spot. I’m just killing time before I go to work later…it’s fuckin’ hot today.

Dread...face the beast!

I definitely did not expect Dread to be this good. I found about it through IGN's horror thing and wow, it definitely surprised me. It's one of those movies that has a slow build up and creates a really good third act so it's kinda like Audition but it definitely made me cringe more than Audition did. It's a very sadistic movie and it gets pretty cerebral considering that it is a horror/thriller type of movie. Anyone that likes to live vicariously through others will like this movie. It's basically about a person who uses other people's fears to torment them. Everything in the movie builds up to the glorious third act and I can honestly say that I would not change a thing about the ending. It's nicely disturbing and cringeworthy. Nobody walks away unscathed. Nobody is left unaffected. Nobody wins. This is a movie about fear and facing the beasts that come from it. Can you face your beast?

Wargames

Wargames is constantly praised as being a great movie, but I didn't seem to get why it's considered to be so amazing. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a good movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I just don't see it being as thrilling as others made it out to be. It might have been cause of the old tech that they used. That shit did not age well at all. It kinda hard to take the movie seriously when the government was using computers that looked like the old reading computer that I was in charge of in 5th grade. Black screen with green text and everything. Despite this, I can see how this movie affecting films as a whole. I see how live Free or Die hard took inspiration from Wargames and hell the game Defcon Everybody Does is basically an actual game of the program used in the movie. It looks exactly like it which made me want to play Defcon. Again, it still a very enjoyable movie, it just isn't really my cup of tea.

Up In the Air

This was just a superb movie. Clooney does what he does best in Up In the Air and it definitely shows. Movies like this aren't usually my cup of tea, well they kinda are, but i have to be in the mood for it, but this movie just worked in every way possible. The characters were more than believable, the situations that they were in are realistic, and all the shades of gray between the definite black and whites in life are more than apparent in the movie. Dana recommended this movie to me and I immediately put it on the top of my queue and it deserved the instant boost up there. If you like Clooney you'll love this movie. If you like dramas, you'll love this movie. Watch Up In the Air now, you wont regret it.

Easter

On a different note. Me and my sister spend Easter at Dana’s place cause the rest of the family was MIA. It was a simple potluck type thing. My sister made mac and cheese and I brought Banana Cream Pie. I met Dianna’s BF as well as Chuck’s GF at the gathering. I also “officially” me Dana’s BF Ryan there too. Had some bonding moments with JJ, yadda yadda yadda. Oh yea, beer. That’s always a plus.

Closing with the Redheads

Nothing particularly interesting happened today. I woke up and went phone browsing with Jo for a bit. I'm stoked about getting the HTC Incredible that's gonna be coming out soon. After that I didn't do much. I just put videos onto my ipod touch which basically means I retired it from playing music, I have the nano for that cause it's smaller and holds the same amount. After that I took a nap and went to work. Work was the same old routine. I had a good ushering group. It was me, Ryan, Tucker, Charlie, and Leslie but she was sent home early. Close usher with Chelsea and Anne...my two redheads as I like to call them. We finished at 2:30am ish and we raided the break room for posters. I walked away with another She's Out Of My League poster along with two Hot Tub Time Machine posters and a Repo Men poster.

Release the Kraken!

Today I woke up, did some BC2, and jammed out back to West Co with Sana. We went to some Ramen joint on the corner of Fullerton and Colima where Yogurtland was. I had the Unagi Ramen cause i was still craving Unagi from a while ago. It was pretty good. Definitely worth the money; I might actually have to stop by that place again to try something else.
After the Ramen place we went to AMC to watch Clash of the Titans in 3d

If you liked the old 1981 iteration of Clash of the Titans, you might not like this version. After watching this one, I appreciated the original a lot more. i’m not sure what makes such a difference. This one is definitely better in the visuals and a tone more action packed but it just didn’t seem to have the magic of the original. The 3d wasn’t really impressive and I didn’t even notice it most of the time; I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. In terms of the story, this one did not follow the original at all. It tried to be like God of War and failed at it. I wish it stuck to the original story instead of making it more Hollywood. This movie had so much potential. Too bad it failed. On a plus side though….Io in the movie is quite pretty. She definitely kept me interested.

Oh, after my closing shift I was able to snag a bunch of new posters. One of which was She’s Out of my League…hopefully I can snag a Hot Tub Time Machine one too.

Fire Within is done and...

I finished watching the Fire Within series and…wow…it’s as amazing as the first time I watched it. Olga and Raquel as are beautiful as I remember and it’s just as gripping as before. The third disc has the world premier of Varekai and it just looked stressful. They cover everything from the final dress rehearsal that went disastrous to opening night, to everyone saying goodbye to Gareth and Ashley as the were not going to be touring with the troupe cause their contracts were terminated after Montreal. It’s kinda heart wrenching to see Ashley try and hide his disappointment cause it was his dream to tour with the Cirque and it was torn away from him at the last minute. If you haven’t seen Fire Within yet you’re definitely missin’ out. Watch it now.

Kiss On My List

Kiss On My List by Daryl Hall & John Oates. I randomly thought about the movie She's Out of My League and the scene where Stainer and his tribute band Adult Education is singing this song for Molly's younger sister's 21st birthday party came to my mind. Ever since then it's been stuck on my head. It's been in my head for 2 days now. It's a catchy song...but damn...two days is a long time for one song.

Clash of the Titans 1981

Clash of the Titans from 1981 did not age well at all. The visuals are very dated and camera work is shaky, but if you can look past its unavoidable faults, you will probably like that movie. Warning to everyone though, make sure you aren't tired when watching this movie. I dozed off several times while watching it cause I was tired so i had to rewind the movie several times. It's something that's worth watching just to see an oldschool mythology movie before the new version comes out tonight (the new one is getting destroyed by reviewers). If you like eye candy like some people i know *cough*Andy*cough* you might just scoff at the movie, but if you just want to watch a good adventure, this movie will do the trick.
