Must play catch up.

Wednesday was my chicken day. I spent a chunk of Wednesday just at home bumming it. Like totally bumming it. At one point I spent two hours lying down on the floor by my dog. Eventually I met up with Rose and Alicia and we chilled at the Brea Mall for a little bit. We window shopped yadda yadda yadda and we decided to eat at Church's. Well, I decided to eat at Church's and they came along. After that Alicia jammed out cause she was sick and me and Rose were gonna watch Salt with Chels but ended up hanging out instead. Justin met up with us and we ended up at Alondra's Hot Wings in Montebello. That shit was bomb. We just ate there and played some truth or dare. Herpes and skivvies later we jammed out, brought Rose home and me, Chels, and Justin talked a bit more at Del Taco before calling it a night.

Thursday, which was yesterday, was a little more productive and by productive i mean not productive at all. I did wash my car though, that was the productive part. After that I met up with Desiree and we got some lunch at One World. I was scared shitless eating there cause...dude...it's me. I eat meat on meat on meat. I surprisingly liked One World, and great company helped too. Me and Des just ate and talked about everything and anything, it felt great catching up with her. After we ate at One World, we went over to Coffee Break to see if Sana was working, but he wasn't. It was worth a shot. After that little spur of the moment stop, I dropped off Desi at her place and I went home to take a nap. It was a good several hour nap with some MW2 time in there but I ended up going out with Rose, Alicia, and Justin for some Alondra's...again. We chilled and ate and eventually made our way back to AMC to watch Expendables. It's not a perfect movie, but it is a good movie to watch with the bros. Definitely a Dude movie. After the movie I chilled with Wilson and the two Kevins before jamming out.

Food Run Review #11: Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings, why must you have so much wasted potential? It's definitely a good place top hang out and chill with the bros. The sauce selection is really good. It also has a pretty decent beer selection. The main problem that I have with it is, and it's pretty major, it doesn't really shine in any one category. I've had better wings, I've been where there's a better beer selection, and I've been where there's a better ambiance. Not to take anything away from this place, it's a blast to be there with friends, but nothing really makes me say "wow" here. Also sometimes the food comes out cold to the table. That's a pretty big deal to me. It happens rarely but it happens more often than it should. Keep trying Bdub, you can be so much better.

Food Run Review #10: Furaibo

Furaibo...I expected more out of you. I got the Yakitori and was disappointed. Yeah it was good, but more was needed. I had a hard time understanding the waitress, but that was to be expected by the area and the ambiance of the locale. But aside from that, their beer selection was horribly limited. The food that I had was decent but not spectacular. Price was affordable. Two of us dined for abut $23 including tax and tip so it was a good price. It was worth trying but nothing too spectacular to me.

Food Run Review #9: In n Out

In n Out. One of my go to places. It never lets me down. It satisfies my hunger with its greasy portions of meat, cheese, and sauce. My usual is a Double Double animal style of course and animal fries. Basically anything animal style is godly. Just make it animal and you're good to go. They have a simple menu and a wide secret menu that you should figure out on your own. I dare you. But yea, they keep it simple and they make it the way it should be. Get a Four by Four if you're down. Get an Eight by Eight if you're daring. Get anything higher if you want a heart attack. Boy are the heart attacks worth it...not that I know. Go here and go here often.

Hey...stop!

Today was pretty good. Started out the day by waking up to Alicia's texts and we decided to meet up to get some grubbage. We met up at the AMC lot and she decided to drive...I wont turn that down hahaha and we ended up trying to hit up this one asian place that was on yelp but turns out it was closed. We ended up hitting up Furaibo or whatever that place in called. I had the Yakitori set and it was pretty decent. It got kinda weird after a while though so I stopped eating it. Me and Alicia just chilled talking for a while and we went to Vons for a beer run...more specifically Blue Moon and Shock Top...I approve of the selection, but between you and me...it could have been better hahaha. Anyways, she had plans with her friends so we parted ways back at the lot. I ended up staying in the lot for a while talking to several people that came through. First it was Brandon Flores cause he was on his break. then Hernan as he was leaving. We ended up talking for a ling while. Geoff came through, as did Heather. Eventually I just went inside and got ready to start my shift. Went in...eventually started working...long day alone....alone...and ate mozzarella sticks on my break and eventually got out of work. I met up with the two Kevins, Chan's buddy, Anne, and Wilson at Bdub after work. I didn't order anything cause I wasn't hungry but I did have 2 tall glasses of Guinness. We talked and chilled for a good while, felt like old times when i went more regularly and it was a good choice going. Eventually we jammed home and here I am now.

Stupidity

Today started out as a bum day but ended up pretty fun. I just stayed at home for most of the earlier part of the day and even ended up at my grandma’s house to run some errands with my mother. After that I jammed to AMC to meet up with Rose and Hope. We talked for a bit and decided to pick up Alex and met up with Justin at Banana Bay. We ate there and I got the BBQ Chicken like I always do and a lemonade. Too poor for beer right now. After that we decided to jam out the AMC lot where we started to roller blade and longboard. We ended up at the Costco lot and did the same thing there and add in shopping cart riding and spinning. That was exhausting and we ended up at In n Out where we ate some more. I had a Double Double with animal fries and lemonade. While we were there we played truth or dare with my Incredible and those was freakishly entertaining. That continued into the parking lot and eventually we ended up at the usual lot where we ran into Chels and Carissa before everyone jammed out…simple yet satisfying.

Food Run Review #8: Coffee Break

Coffee break. I've eaten here many time cause my buddy's fam owns it and it's never let me down. I usually get the Eel and a Lemon Slush those have never let me down. I'm not too keen on the menu, but everything that I've tried has been yum so far. The curry was good, the sizzling platters are good, the aforementioned eel, etc, etc, etc. It's a small place and parking isn't really an issue, but of course I've never been there during the lunch rush when all the people from Mt. Sac go eat. I've always gone either at the dinner time or during the weekends. No complaints here, and it's a definitely must try and revisit. Good day.

REWIND!

Saturday was mainly work day. Met up with Rose and Alicia for a little bit. Alicia didn't stick around and jammed home, and Rose and I went to Coffee Break to get some Unagi. I had the Unagi and a Lemon Slush like I usually did and it was as usual, good. After that we Foursquared a little bit and I bought a car charger and case for my Incredible and eventually we ended up working. Good usher group that day. Me, Eric, Rose, Geoff for a bit hahaha. Chill day with sore legs. It's all good. After work I was starving but there was nothing to eat. I ended up just staying up thinking about what to get so long that I got too lazy to get anything. I ended my night with a dinner for Oaked Arrogant Bastards and Stella Artois.

Sunday was more of the same. I started the morning by watching The Other Guys with Alicia and then going to the food court cause she was hungry. I just chilled with her before going our separate ways. I went home to change real quick and came back to AMC to work. Apparently I started at 1 instead of 2 so I was an hour late, but they were cutting hours so it worked out pretty well. Ushered with Lida, Charlie, Allen, and Hernan. Chill day. Got home and passed out right away. C'est la vie.

Bones Season 1

My sister got me into the show Bones. The first season isn't as polished as the other ones that I start out watching, but it's a good introduction into the show. Deschanel plays Brennan pretty damn well. She seems to be separated from the rest of the world, like she's couped up into her work to avoid the realities that bother her, mainly the disappearance of her parents when she was 15. Boreanaz plays Booth and he's pretty much the opposite from Brennan. He is the normal, everyday guy...more or less. He focuses on his work to appease his conscience. He used to be a Ranger sniper and he wants to catch as many criminals as individuals he killed in combat. Both main characters have their own reasons to focus on their work, but what makes the show so great is the banter that goes on between the two of them. Their differing personality traits just create a great oil and water type thing. As different as they are they need each other and are driven by each other. I wish there was more of an overall story arch instead of the evolution of Brennan's character to tie the whole season together, but the episodic nature also works well for this type of show where an entire case or mystery is solved within a single episode.

Sappy but heartwarming

Food Run Review #7: Denny's

It's 2 am...you just got out of the club and you are hungry...it's 2 am and you just got off work and you wanna get some grub...it's 3 am and you're still studying and you want some more energy...where do you go? You go to Denny's, at least I do. This one is a decent place to eat and you'll get what you expect. I only go really late so the late night crew recognizes me and know my usual order. They are nice people and if you know what to expect, they'll meet your expectations. Nothing special, but nothing disappointing.

Stone India Pale Ale

Stone India Pale Ale is one amazing brew. it pours out a moderately clear golden tint with a small white head with slight lacing. The aroma smells strongly of hops which is definitely expected considering the type of beer. A slight malt aroma is also present but plays a secondary role to the hops. The flavor is tiered. It begins with a malt flavor, moderately sweet that quickly gets passed up by the bite of the  hops. It's a pretty floral beer and it works well with the light body. It all works together it create and strongly flavored IPA with a great bitter bite throughout. Great brew.

Boring

Today was simple and boring. I went to work and ushered with Charlie and eventually with Carissa and Christina. After work I went home and just bummed it. Slept, cut my hair, activated my Incredible...and watched Bones. Fuck.

Impromptu all nighter

Yesterday was surprising. I woke up to a text from Alicia wanting to chill so we met up. We got some Albertos to grub on and we were going to watch The Kids Are Allright in Covina, but it started too late and I had work, so we haul ass to Puente but got stuck in traffic on Azuza cause of the construction. Because of that we missed the first half hour of the movie, so we ended up watching 500 Days of Summer in the breakroom while eating out meal before moving onto the mall. We find the claw machine game with the South Park characters and we get a little addicted. It continued to Tilt and eventually I had to leave her to go to work. There I was, at work, not wanting to work, but at work nonetheless. I ushered with JT and Andrew Mota ran with us for a while. It was the same old situation with work, nothing new or exciting there. I close usher, got out, and Alicia and I decide to meet up again to watch Hangover at her place. I grab some beers and head over. I get there and we start up Hangover and about halfway through the movie Caydie joins us too. Somewhere in there we hit up Del Taco, chatroulette'ed, meatspinned, BME Pain Olympic'd, and watched...per se...She's Out of My League and Disturbia. Eventually Caydie knocked the fuck out so me and Alicia played a little bit of Wii...which I sucked at...except for the beer pong game which I dominated. But yea...I love Alicia's dog despite his deafness lol. Played with him alot especially after he grew a liking to me. That was my day...I just woke up to start this one.

Food Run Review #6: Albertos

Albertos Albertos Albertos. What can I really say about you? You are always open. You are always affordable. You are always delicious. You always give great sized portions. You are only outdoor seating. You never take credit cards. You are never a healthy alternative. You are basically a go to late night food run or a cheap yet unhealthy alternative. It’s great when the weather permits, but if it’s hot outside you might wanna look elsewhere. The food is great, especially the carne asada fries which is a great deal for the the size of the meal. Parking has never been a problem for me. I personally love this place and it’s a great place to eat if you’re in the mood for Mexican.

I smell like smoke and chlorine

Today was exhausting. I woke up late and was almost late for work, but I got there in time. The downside is that I didn't get a chance to shower so I still smelled like smoke and chlorine from Justin's place the night/morning before. I felt gross. Anyways....it was a slow day at work...to be expected out of a weekday. I ushered alone for the first part and then I was joined by Christina. Time passed by so slowly cause I was just exhausted still and i was just meh. Work was just the basics. After I got off I talked to Caydie for a while to burn some time for her and cause I didn't really want to go home. Eventually I met up with Alicia for a quick bite to eat before she started studying for her exams. We hit up Tommy's and I just had a chili cheeseburger and chili cheese fries with a lemonade. As usual they were great. We ate and talked for a while, good times and we jammed out after we finished. She went home, I went home...and I thought my pillow was talking to me for a while. That's when i decided that I was indeed physically and mentally tired. Showered, tumblr'd and now I'm going to watch some Bones to wear me down some more...thank you for reading and please return to my boring ass blog about nothing in particular. Good day chaps.

Food Run Review #5: Tommy's

High fat…high calorie…high cholesterol…high everything bad…and most importantly…high in flavor. Tommy’s is delicious. The house where chili is kept is a guilty pleasure. Whether it be for a quick food run, late night grub out, or just a standalone meal, Tommy’s will make you feel guilty for eating it yet it’ll make you happy you are there. It’s open 24 hours, never closes, parking is never really an issue despite its small size, and it’s just a great place to get a quick bite. Basically anything with the chili is bomb. Chili dog good. Chili cheeseburger good. Chili hamburger good. Chili cheese fries good. Chili alone good. If it has chili order it…if it comes from Tommy’s eat it. Good pricing and good food makes for a great grub station. Eat here.

Food Run Review #4: Milk

Milk is definitely a place that I would visit again, and again, and again. I’ve had the original drumstick and the Triple Chocoalte Shake there and they were nothing less than spectacular. It looks unassuming from the front, but don’t let it fool you, it’s a great place. I never really come here for the food, I usually come here for the dessert cause that’s where it shines. There’s usually a pretty large to moderate line and parking can be a tough cookie cause it’s basically street parking, but if you can get passed that, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of desserts here.

Food Run Review #3: Banana Bay

Oh Banana Bay (Colima and Fullerton), how you have fallen. Alright this Banana Bay was horrible. I mean, the food was good and is on par with what they usually serve as a franchise, but the quality of the service and the cleanliness was completely abysmal. My friend has hair in her dish, the waitress was rude, and the other waiters didn’t pay attention to anything. We felt ignored and annoyed. The waiter that picked up the check didn’t understand simple instructions and it was just frustrating. The glassware was pretty disappointing too. They were spotty and generally not well washed or maintained. Overall taste wise it was decent, but as a food establishment I’m surprised how they stay in business. This place is crap and I don’t really understand why people tolerate such mediocrity from them.

Your life is an inspirational movie

Today was pretty packed. I started out the day by going to work in the morning to open usher. I worked until 6 then I met up with Caydie and Alicia to grub out. We hit up Banana Bay on Colima and I had the That Chicken BBQ like I usually get at Thai places. It was good, but the service was pretty crappy. This place is gonna get a beating on Yelp. Anyways after that we decide to get some dessert and what better place to get dessert than Milk? So we jam over there and I get the Original Drumstick and we head over to Swingers where we ate the ice cream and Caydie got her own grubbage. After that we jam out back home and an idiot cop intervened and just put a downer on the night. Fuckin' pigs. Anyways, we head over to Vons to get some shit for the fire and we go to Justins where we spent a bulk of the night just chilling, swimming, and munching on smores until the sun came up. Overall it was a good day, but the cop was just a godddamn downer that it just put a bad aura around the good shit.

Arrogant Bastard Ale

Arrogant Bastard Ale...are you worthy? Well, most of us aren't but luckily I'm part of the group that loves this brew. Pours out a nice deep red color with a slight haziness to it with a nice sizable head with good retention and strong lacing. I loved that aspect of the beer. The aroma was great as well. Mostly malts and hops with a slight pine and citrus component in the background. It's flavor is what you would expect from an Arrogant, it has a dry bitter taste offered by the hops on a low carbonated body and dry finish although it's not the smoothest beer but it's still shines. Amazing.

Food Run Review #2: Osunas Restaurant

Small place full of good food and nice people. It’s off in the corner of the plaza where Albertsons is and you can just perceive it as just a regular joint and just blow it off. That would be a mistake. I eat here from time to time and it’s never let me down. Their fish tacos are amazing. Their burritos are large and delicious. I usually get the fish tacos but today I got the lobster burrito and lobster taco and they were great. Pricing is great, expect the $9 to $15 price range for most items and about $3 per taco which too are pretty sizable. You wont be disappointed in this place.

Food Run Review #1: Walnut Liquorette

Looks can be deceiving. From the outside the Walnut Liquorette looks just like a regular liquor store, but when you go in and see the beer selection, you will be floored. The selection rivals if not surpasses that of Bevmo and they are all hand selected by the owner. You get the standard beers you would usually find at any other liquor stores, but you will find some of the beers that are very tough to find. Craft and specialty beers are here and in great quantity. Prices range from the standard prices of regular beers to higher end pricing for beers like Lost Abbey which run about $18 for 12 oz. Most fall in the $6-9 range so it’s still quite affordable if you’re willing to pay for quality. If you like drinks, this is the place to go.

Charlie St. Cloud

Charlie St. Cloud was a surprising movie for me. I didn't expect to like it but I did. Given the plot is kind of a stretch...you'll understand when you watch it...and Effron's character isn't the brightest fish in the pond but the raw emotions just worked and Effron surprisingly pulled it off. Sweeping vistas and beautiful waters are aplenty and so are some cheesy moments but it comes together to create a good chick flick. Given I'm not the best judge for chick flicks but this is one that I kinda enjoyed.

Dinner for Schmucks

I loved Dinner for Schmucks. I've seen it twice already and it didn't lose any appeal. It's so retarded, slightly offensive if you're the sensitive type, and just funny if you go into it with a sense of humor and a willingness to watch. Rudd and Carell work well together in this movie and they shine. Yea it kind of gets off to a slow-ish start and the actual dinner is just a taste of what could have been, but the trip to get to that final destination was a blast. It's full of idiotic moments, cheap laughs, and just plain stupidity but it works for what it is. It doesn't try to be something that it's not. Watch it.

Avery Mephistopheles Stout

Avery Mephistopheles Stout. Pours a deep black color with a thin brown head. It has the aroma of coffee interlaced with molasses and brown sugar. Smells amazing I might add. You can definitely smell the alcohol in the brew as well, but it isn't overpowering at all. The taste is resplendent. It tastes somewhat sweet. Slight notes of cherry, molasses and raisins. It has a creamy body that holds the flavors very well and the very light carbonation compliments everything very well. Amazing beer.

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3. Get the fuck out of the way children I've been waiting 11 years for this movie to come out. Was it worth the wait? Fuck yea it was. I saw most of the movie a while back but I never got to finish it until recently. It's such a great movie. It's the best animated, if not the best movie so far this year. It's a great homage to the old movies and it's a perfect send off for the franchise. The cast is back, the magic is back, and the greatness justifiably follows. It's perfect. Suspense, laughs, tears, everything you can want is here...reminds me of my childhood. To infinity and beyond...

Salt

Salt was a decent movie, but I wouldn't really say it was that good. It has good action, some good scenes in it, some witty sequences, but ultimately it doesn't really shine on its own. Jolie seems to be trying to hard in this and doesn't capture any sort of footing during the movie. It ends up feeling like a James Bond rehash before it even gets going. She shows her age in certain scenes, the plot is full of holes, and worst of all it has an open ending leaving room for a sequel. Does it need a sequel? No. Tries to hard but fails. It does succeed as a decent summer action flick though. Barely worth the price of admission.

St. John!

Today started out as a bum day. I woke up and basically laid in my room for several hours in the heat. I just surfed the net for a while and started to talk to Kevin and Alicia online. Yea, my home life is pretty sad. After a while of webbing I met up with Kevin and we watched Dinner With Schmucks which was, obviously, hilarious. It's as good the second time as it was the first time. But yea, after that me and Kev went to Osunas cause I was craving Mexican food after I devoured several chimichangas earlier in the day. I spent money, per se, at Osunas. I got the lobster burrito and a lobster taco. Those were freakin' delicious. Great size too; they filled me up pretty well. It was great catching up with Kev cause I hadn't seen him in a while cause of work and life in general. I brought him back to his car at AMC and that was the end of that man date. I hit up Alicia and we decide to watch Charlie St. Cloud. I was surprised how much I liked the movie. Hell, i didn't even really know what it was about, but I liked it. So yea, we watched the movie and parted ways after. That was basically what I did today. I'm full....

Jackass 2.5

Jackass 2.5 is retarded but hilarious. These skits are basically the ones that didn't make it into Jackass Number 2 and you can see why. Not the best skits but definitely not the worst. The cast is hilarious, the stunts are hilarious, this is just another fun ride from the boys. If you liked Jackass, Wildboyz, or Viva La Bam you will like this, if not, get the fuck out.

Fat Tire

This pours out a light copper color and has a sweet malty aroma to it. It also has a thick head that's very frothy which caught me off guard. It's quite bready and the hops are easily evident in the bitter bite. There isn't much to say about this beer cause it's pretty simple. Enjoyable but not astounding.

Avery The beast Grand Cru Ale

This is an amazing beer. It surprisingly smooth considering it's 15% abv.  The first thing you really notice is the aroma. It definitely has a strong alcohol aroma to it but is followed by sweet notes of honey, malt, and brown sugar. It pours a dark ruby color with a medium head. It has a thick body that holds the flavors amazingly well. It tastes sweet up front from what seems to be honey and molasses, somewhat fruity and it sits on your tongue very well. It's very rich in body and flavor and ends with a tartness and slight burn. This is simply an amazing beer.

Lindemans Pomme Lambic

This beer pours out a slightly hazy golden color with a green tint to it but didn't really have a head to speak of. It had the aroma of a sour green apple, similar to the candies that most people are familiar with. The flavor is what you expect it to be, the same sour apple that the aroma suggests and this feels more like a sour apple soda than a beer. It's still very flavorful and I thought it was delicious, but again, it's more like a soda than a beer.

Wittekerke Rosé also known as Wittekerke Framboise

Pours out a pink color, almost red with a light pink head. The head has good volume and retention. It smells strongly of raspberries. Not just not one variety of it, but several. It was fairly carbonated and has medium body and tastes very sweet. It opens up a mouthful of fruity, berries mainly. The sweetness carries through most of the beer and ends with a slight tartness. Not really my type of beer, but I enjoyed it.

Lindemans Péche Lambic

This was a nice beer. It pours out a hazy light gold color with a pretty decent white head that has pretty good retention. I didn't notice any real lacing though. It has a sweet flavor, obviously primarily peach, but also has a slight funk to it as well as a slight sweet yeastiness. The mild carbonation brings it together nicely and reminds me of a fruit champagne. You don't taste the alcohol at all but that's to be expected cause it's only 2.5% abv. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

The Sorcerer's Apprentice, this is a summer movie through and through. It's shallow, obvious, sub par acting, but it's pretty entertaining nonetheless. What it lacks in greatness, or better yet, what it lacks in quality it makes up for in cheese. It's a damn cheesy movie, but it works. Disney is here and even pays homage to Fantasia. I don't see why they made this movie, but they did. Meh overall but entertaining if you're in the mood. Rent it on dvd.

Inception

Inception. Stunning film. This is easily Nolan's best film yet and is a prime example of how a summer movie can be intelligent. The idea of the movie is simple, put an idea within someone mind through their dreams, but the execution is beautifully complex. One goal, one idea, several layers to go through. It's so cerebral that it picks at you the more you pick at it. Casting was, in my opinion, superb. DiCaprio did a fine job in the lead but as everyone already knows Gordon-Levitt stole the show. If 500 Days of Summer didn't already put him in the limelight, this movie did. (I do hate all the Gordon-Levitt bandwagoners though, most of them haven't even seen Brick, which I think is the role that broke him out of his Third Rock from the Sun typecast) But yea, the supporting cast also did a superb job in the flick. Nolan's hand is evident in the film as you see many shots that was strikingly similar to his past movies *cough* Dark Knight *cough*. The same can be said with much of the tone and mood. This is definitely a Nolan movie, you will know it when you see it. Everything else like the visuals is top notch and you all already know it so there's no point in talking about it. My only real complain about the movie is the lack of character development, but I can see why that was done so meh, fuck it. Great movie....you already know that...so watch it again.

Schmucks and Wings

Today was another simple day done right for me. I woke up to my parents yelling and screaming at each other which was fucking annoying so I stayed in my room for hours until I took a shower and so fourth. Had herb roasted chicken for lunch ish and after a while I ended up hanging out with Alicia. We almost went to Joanna's BBQ but we called her and she said is probably isn't worth the drive by the time we started to go so we just decided to make a beer run instead cause it was kind of on the way but not really. We also decided to basically watch Dinner with Schmucks so we start hitting everyone up but only Brandon Perez was free and down to watch with us. So yea, there were are the Liquorette and I get an Avery and a 6 pack of Blue Moons and those are a great combo. Then we watched the movie, me, Alicia, and Brandon, and damn...that was a downright funny, hilarious, simply great movie. I loved it! Score another great comedy for Paul Rudd. So yea, lol the three of us go to Wingstop for a quick meal and me and Alicia share the 15 piece combo where she got a Lemon Pepper and I got the Hickory Smoked BBQ. Those were delicious as usual. It totally brought a smile on my face eating at Wingstop cause come on...it's fuckin' Wingstop. We go back to AMC to watch Cats and Dogs but we ended up missing the movie cause we just started to talk in the lobby and talked a bit too much and lost track of time. It's all good though. We talked and talked and eventually we decided to jam out. Brandon's ride showed up, I brought Alicia back to her place, and life continued. Good day.
