Audition
Audition is a Japanese horror type movie that I've been hearing great stuff about for a while now. It's definitely a good movie that i enjoyed, but it was too hyped for me and I was left wanting more. Those interested in the movie should expect a slow start up because it begins in a slow fashion. Man loses wife, raises son, becomes lonely, and wants a new love interest. That's the general idea behind the film and 3/4 of the movie is based on this progression. It's definitely a good ride and the ending was definitely worth the wait, but it felt too tame for the hype. I admit that I'm not the squeamish type so it might just be cause I'm used to gore and so forth, but I still think it's not as disturbing as other made it out to be. There's a slight twist in the movie that serves as the motive, but it's not too difficult to figure it out. Audition is a really well made cautionary tale of not knowing what's behind the eyes that's looking at you. It moves from a movie about a lonely man looking for someone to care about to a nightmare come true. If you don't mind a very lengthy build up then check this movie out cause it's definitely worth watching; if you're turned off from hearing that it takes well over an hour to reach the well hyped portion, then you might just want to look at the end on the internet and skip the rest of the movie.
