Get out of the way Twilight

Nowadays when someone mentions a vampire movie the first film that comes into people minds is the Twilight series. Twilight made vampires sparkle in the sunlight and made vampires look constipated. Let the Right One In takes a much more traditional approach to vampires and succeeds in every way. Almost everything you expect is here: drinking blood, flying, climbing, even having to be invited into a household is here. This is how a vampire movie should be, and what's more important is that these vampires burn in the sun instead of sparkling like glitter. This is a Swedish movie so expect to read subtitles to understand what the hell is going on, but it's definitely worth the effort. The story moves fairly slowly but in doing so, the main characters get pretty well developed. Oskar is constantly bullied throughout the movie and he falls for Eli, a female vampire of seemingly the same age. I wouldn't categorize that movie as a horror movie as it doesn't really have any scares. It's more dramatic and explores the relationship between the two protagonists. Despite their budding relationship, there's always a feeling of loneliness that is even intensified by the snowy locale. If you want a movie where vampires are frighteningly plausible then catch this movie. You will both fear and fall for Eli as she is both deadly and alluring.
