I get home and got ready and we jammed out in time. We met up with Terra and Lauren cause they rode with us there. We then headed over to Shante's place where we met up with Shante and Seth's mom as they were gonna go there in a separate car; we say Desiree for a quick second, but we didn't really have time to chat. We headed out and met up with Shante's mother at the studio. We wait to be seated for the Ellen show and after quite a bit of waiting, we finally go it. We lucked out and out group of seven wasn't separated but we were seated in the very back but at least we were in the middle section so we got a pretty good view of what was going on. Dancing and cheering pursued for a while until Ellen finally came out of the back and we got out first guest, Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek.
After Lysacek was Ellen's next guest, actor in Hurt Locker and Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner.
After Renner's portion of the show, Ellen announces that every member of the audience gets a Hurt Locker DVD. Then comes Lenny Kravitz who was in the film Precious, and you guessed it, Ellen tells the audience that everyone gets a copy of Precious in DVD!
After alot more cheering and hollering Ellen announces that everyone get a $100 gift card to Gold Class Cinemas as well, as expected, this garners addition hooting and hollering from the crowd and that's where the show ends. The taping of the show was definitely a great experience and it is definitely more fun than you would ever expect it would be.
After the taping for Ellen, the group: Joanna, Terra, Lauren, Shante, her mother, and Seth's mother, and I met up at Osuna's for dinner. We got there in time for happy hour so most of us rocked the tacos. I had three carnita tacos and three fish tacos with a corona. My sister had a brain fart moment of which would probably be the random highlight of the night. Everyone was pretty stuffed after their meals at Osuna's, but I still had some room for more grub which would be a good thing cause my night wouldn't be over just yet.
Everyone separates at this point, and this is when I go out to AMC to go to the Alice in Wonderland employee screening. I get to AMC about an hour early and I catch up with Wilson, Armando, and Brandon Perez. We chill for a bit in the lot the way us AMC employees usually do and I pop on Wilson's rollerblades and give it a quick spin. After many years without using blades, it's quite an adjustment, but it makes me want to get a pair. Yadda yadda yadda, we hang out, then we go and pick up Carla before the screening starts. So Brandon goes to work and me, Wilson, and Mando pick up Carla real quick before the screening.
We get to AMC and me and Carla head into the theater while Wilson and Mando handles some business. There wasn't as many people as I expected at the screening; other than the group that I was already with, Rose, Marlene, and Ryan were there. And Alice starts. Alot of people don't know this so I might as well get it out of the way....this Alice in Wonderland is NOT a remake of the cartoon. It's actually a sequel that takes plays ten or so years after the animated movie, so Alice has grown up and she's almost twenty years old. With that out of the way, I can say that Alice was a really good movie. Tim Burton did a great job with the movie. Everything seemed to work better than I was hoping for. Tim Burton got the feel of Wonderland down without going overboard. The animated character were well done and are pretty close to their oldschool counterparts. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum seemed to steal the show to me and they just bring something great to the movie. Mia Wasikowska played Alice in the movie, and with this being one of her first major movies, at least that I know of other than Defiance, she did a really good job. Her performance improved as the movie went on and she kept us interested in the movie. She also looked beautiful in the movie. I liked her hearts outfit given to her by the Red Queen, although my coworker liked her steel suit. Tim Burton went to to go-to-girl Helena Bonham Carter. Like always she plays her role really well. She rocked as the Red Queen and Tim Burton shows that he knows how to cast and integral part of the movie by having her as the Red Queen. As you all know Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter. The Mad Hatter is a character that Burton and Depp could have easily overdone could have easily messed up with. Luckily, the Mad Hatter was spot on as a character. Depp definitely shows that he can still do these really off beat characters that he's been known for. Anne Hathaway as the White Queen works well also. She is definitely the opposite of the Red Queen in every way possible. She seems to float around in a very fairly like manner which just exudes the right aura. It's something that you have to see to understand. She's just so princessy and queeny. Alice in Wonderland is definitely a must watch movie and you have to catch it in IMAX. It'll run you like $15 but it's the only way to watch the movie. Go see it this weekend, but make sure you give us a break and throw your trash away.
Once we finish screening the movie Rose, Armando, Wilson, Carla, and I went out for some grubbage. We were going to go to Buffalo Wild Wings, but when we got there it was packed. If we were going to eat there, there would be an hour wait. So we decided to just pass on that and go to Hooters instead. that didn't work either cause when we got to Hooters there were already closing. basically it was a fuck it moment so we hit up somewhere that we knew would still be open....Wingstop. We jam out to the Wingstop in La Puente cause that's the one that Wilson knew and it was still good, although the one in La Habra is still my favorite. I just got my usual order of a ten piece combo, half of which was smoked hickory and the other half was original hot, ranch as the dip and a Dr. Pepper. Wingstop always hits the spot.
After we ate, we dropped off Carla back at her place and shilled at the lot for a bit until Jazwel and Chelsea got off work. We talked for a bit and everyone went home.
Totally bomb day today...out for now...
