Shutter Island....Worth the Wait?

Scorsese's Shutter Island premiered tonight. I've been waiting a long time for this film to finally come out; it was supposed to premier back in October, but was delayed until now. The question is, was it worth the wait? For me it definitely was not. Shutter Island is an entertaining movie and definitely worth watching, but it is not to par with Scorsese's other works. The imagery is very well done as the film goes from dark undertones to bright colors in quick succession on certain scenes. It kind of shocks the eyes a little bit but its very well done. The acting was also pretty top notch as Leonardo DiCaprio puts forth a strong performance as does Michelle Williams, although her role in the film was pretty minor. For me the film falls apart in regards to the story a supposed twist. I wont spoil anything for anyone, but it isn't difficult to predict what the twist will be. I called what was going to happen from the trailers alone. Again, it's not a bad movie; hell, its a damn good movie...if you don't go in expecting a big twist. This is no Fight Club. If you look at the cast and the director, Shutter Island would be more of a disappointment, but if you look past those aspects and watch it as just a simple movie, then you will come out totally satisfied with the film.
