Food Run Review #8: Coffee Break

Coffee break. I've eaten here many time cause my buddy's fam owns it and it's never let me down. I usually get the Eel and a Lemon Slush those have never let me down. I'm not too keen on the menu, but everything that I've tried has been yum so far. The curry was good, the sizzling platters are good, the aforementioned eel, etc, etc, etc. It's a small place and parking isn't really an issue, but of course I've never been there during the lunch rush when all the people from Mt. Sac go eat. I've always gone either at the dinner time or during the weekends. No complaints here, and it's a definitely must try and revisit. Good day.

REWIND!

Saturday was mainly work day. Met up with Rose and Alicia for a little bit. Alicia didn't stick around and jammed home, and Rose and I went to Coffee Break to get some Unagi. I had the Unagi and a Lemon Slush like I usually did and it was as usual, good. After that we Foursquared a little bit and I bought a car charger and case for my Incredible and eventually we ended up working. Good usher group that day. Me, Eric, Rose, Geoff for a bit hahaha. Chill day with sore legs. It's all good. After work I was starving but there was nothing to eat. I ended up just staying up thinking about what to get so long that I got too lazy to get anything. I ended my night with a dinner for Oaked Arrogant Bastards and Stella Artois.

Sunday was more of the same. I started the morning by watching The Other Guys with Alicia and then going to the food court cause she was hungry. I just chilled with her before going our separate ways. I went home to change real quick and came back to AMC to work. Apparently I started at 1 instead of 2 so I was an hour late, but they were cutting hours so it worked out pretty well. Ushered with Lida, Charlie, Allen, and Hernan. Chill day. Got home and passed out right away. C'est la vie.

Bones Season 1

My sister got me into the show Bones. The first season isn't as polished as the other ones that I start out watching, but it's a good introduction into the show. Deschanel plays Brennan pretty damn well. She seems to be separated from the rest of the world, like she's couped up into her work to avoid the realities that bother her, mainly the disappearance of her parents when she was 15. Boreanaz plays Booth and he's pretty much the opposite from Brennan. He is the normal, everyday guy...more or less. He focuses on his work to appease his conscience. He used to be a Ranger sniper and he wants to catch as many criminals as individuals he killed in combat. Both main characters have their own reasons to focus on their work, but what makes the show so great is the banter that goes on between the two of them. Their differing personality traits just create a great oil and water type thing. As different as they are they need each other and are driven by each other. I wish there was more of an overall story arch instead of the evolution of Brennan's character to tie the whole season together, but the episodic nature also works well for this type of show where an entire case or mystery is solved within a single episode.

Sappy but heartwarming

Food Run Review #7: Denny's

It's 2 am...you just got out of the club and you are hungry...it's 2 am and you just got off work and you wanna get some grub...it's 3 am and you're still studying and you want some more energy...where do you go? You go to Denny's, at least I do. This one is a decent place to eat and you'll get what you expect. I only go really late so the late night crew recognizes me and know my usual order. They are nice people and if you know what to expect, they'll meet your expectations. Nothing special, but nothing disappointing.

Stone India Pale Ale

Stone India Pale Ale is one amazing brew. it pours out a moderately clear golden tint with a small white head with slight lacing. The aroma smells strongly of hops which is definitely expected considering the type of beer. A slight malt aroma is also present but plays a secondary role to the hops. The flavor is tiered. It begins with a malt flavor, moderately sweet that quickly gets passed up by the bite of the  hops. It's a pretty floral beer and it works well with the light body. It all works together it create and strongly flavored IPA with a great bitter bite throughout. Great brew.

Boring

Today was simple and boring. I went to work and ushered with Charlie and eventually with Carissa and Christina. After work I went home and just bummed it. Slept, cut my hair, activated my Incredible...and watched Bones. Fuck.
